Johnny on the Issues
Sustainable Growth
Johnny is committed to guiding sustainable growth in Hays County by balancing responsible economic development with the conservation of our natural resources. He believes in transparent, community-driven planning that reflects the voices and values of our residents. As we grow together, Johnny will ensure that progress strengthens—not compromises—our quality of life. He will prioritize essential services that support all residents—especially youth, veterans, and elderly community members—by working in partnership with local municipalities and school districts.
Affordability
Johnny is committed to keeping Hays County affordable for working families by championing policies that expand access to affordable housing—especially for essential workers like teachers and first responders. He will work to ensure every family can thrive by supporting living wages, investing in critical services, and prioritizing the needs of our most vulnerable residents. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
Safety
Johnny is committed to building a safer, more resilient Hays County by modernizing emergency services and addressing the root causes of crime. He will improve the county jail through smart growth—expanding mental health care, job training, and reentry programs to reduce recidivism, ease overcrowding, and save taxpayer dollars. Recognizing the growing mental health crisis as both a public safety and public health issue, Johnny will advocate for increased investment in care for those in need. He will also prioritize strengthening our emergency response infrastructure—investing in integrated response strategies, equipment, and personnel to ensure our communities are fully prepared for any future crisis or natural disaster.
